Twin Valley boys in suits? Honaker definitely is the team with style...Not TV, Honaker brought out the tuxes a long time ago.

So my suggestion would be to be your own team...Not a combination of the others.

I don't have any problem with your observations, you are entitled to your opinion as well. I would however like to comment on some of the things that you and a few others mentioned.

Because the students put up a section that they title max and moores maniacs has no reference whatsoever to Honaker. Besides if we are going to pick on everyone who does something that is worthy of being called copy cat we would all be in trouble. Didn't Council and Honaker STEAL from Duke?

I'm not putting them down, I am just saying that you are way to critical of TV and the "maniacs," it's just kids trying to have some fun. Which is exactly what they are doing at Council and Honaker.

And as far as the cheer section, the poor students at TV should have known better, after all haysi students started that time honored tradition of cheering for their teams........PUHLEASE!

And as far as that Red Bandana thing goes, you guys are guilty of plegiarism! Yep, Giles county has been doing that for years, you guys should be ashamed!

Just a note, I have been to Sandlick many times and have never heard of any such thing as the Red Bandana Spirit Squad! Maybe they just used to show up at girls games, I never really went to many of those.

Now as far as the SUITS, the idea wasn't stolen from Honaker! Believe it or not other classy teams in the past and around the state wear suits, if the idea was stolen from Honaker all of them better be paying royalties. Coach Moore, who attended Grundy in the 80's was on a basketball team that had to wear blazers to every game, the Grundy teams of the late 70's and early 80's wore Blazers, as did the entire Graham football teams of that era, they may still be doing it at Graham I am not sure.

This is just an attempt to bring discipline to a program that needed it badly. These kids are given certain things to do and certain requirements to follow. By conforming to the system they learn that they are part of the system and not above the system.

The reason behind Honaker wearing the blazers is the same reason Castlewood, and Lebanon wear them. It is a Russell County School Board Policy.

Coach Moore, Coach Maxwell and the folks at TV aren't trying to be like anyone else in the district, they are just trying to develop a new attitude and a few NEW traditions at a NEW school that doesn't have a lot of tradition.

They could have developed another time honored tradition of letting their players show up somewhere looking like thugs and in need of a haircut, but they chose the more disciplined approach. And if you think this comment resembles your team, it wasn't meant to be taken that way, if you saw the TV team before you will know what I am talking about.

These young men represent their school, their team and their community with pride and some felt that it was time that they demonstrated it in the way the dress, and conduct themselves.

No harm intended just thought that I would speak up for this side of the mountain. Good luck to all and Keep that BDD Pride!

Good post, but I think you definitly need to try and get purple dropped as the school color. It takes away from a rather talented and good bunch of guys when all people talk about is "them purple uniforms". You're also correct in the fact the the Red Bandannas only went to girls games and they did steal the concept from Giles even Giles called their spirit section the "Red Bandanas".

"Them PUrple Uniforms"doesn't take away from the way the guys play ball! Trust me if Powder Blue doesn't hurt Council, Purple will not Hurt TV. Not taking anything away from powder blue by the way, I am a big Heels Fan!

The logic behind choosing the purple uniforms goes back to knowing that every school in the district has a dominant color, Haysi--Red, Council--Blue(powder), Hurley--Red, Navy, Honaker--orange, TV--Purple. They could have selected Black but it has been done to death, and it also is similiar to the Honaker theme. Purple was just a way of getting away from the old and starting something new!

OK, we are caught. Yes we stole it from the Giles people. We just went to SO many of their games and LOVED it we never dreamed we would be caught! PULEASE! The boys from Haysi did that one all by themselves. They were great! It was so good everyone in the area want to be like the bandana boys.
